Thermocouple: cartridge with thermocouple

The best complement

Cartridges can be manufactured with an integrated sensor cable at any point of the cartridge, according to the customer's needs. The advantages of the sensor are countless—for instance, increased cartridge lifespan, improved accuracy of localised temperature, energy savings, and the ability to install a sensor cable in confined spaces. Various types of temperature controllers are available on the market that require a special thermocouple, such as type J or K.

Isolated thermocouple "Tr.A"

The model is fully isolated from the heating wire, the connections, and the protective sheath. Among its advantages is the protection of instruments for temperature measurements. This is very important, as readings are taken within minutes and remain fast.

Isolated thermocouple "Tr.B"

In this model, the thermocouple junction is in contact with the protective sheath of the cartridge heater, allowing a fast and accurate reading at the location of the cartridge.

Isolated thermocouple "Tr.C"

This model can be placed according to the customer's needs. This is important for long cartridges, ensuring an average temperature is obtained.

Installation tips

When installing a cartridge heater with thermocouple, several factors must be considered. If temperatures of several cartridge heaters need to be monitored, it is advisable to place the thermocouple at the centre of the group. It should never be placed at one end, as this would provide incorrect internal temperature readings. The thermocouple cable is 1 metre long, and the controller should be compensated and adjusted to obtain accurate temperature readings.

Thermal Fuses REF: "Tft"

Thermal fuses are installed inside the cartridge heater to limit the element’s temperature, cutting off electricity and preventing overheating. Once triggered, they cannot be reset. About 2½" (43.5 mm) are needed at the start or end of the cartridge for installation.

Themortast REF: "Tmt"

Thermostats are produced in a wide range of temperatures, up to 150ºC (300ºF). They cut off power when the target temperature is reached, and restore it when it cools down.

REF: "PT100"

A PT100 is a temperature sensor. It consists of a platinum wire that has 100 ohms resistance at 0ºC and increases resistance as temperature rises. The PT100 easily gives accurate readings to a tenth of a degree, with the advantage that it does not gradually fail with incorrect readings. Typically, it breaks cleanly, and the measuring device instantly detects failure and alerts. PT100 can also be installed at a distance (up to 30 metres) using standard copper extension wire. However, it should not be installed in areas with excessive vibration as it may break.

Depending on the diameter, it can be placed at the top of the cartridge, on the "S" side of the cables, or at the bottom "F" side. For thermostats and thermal fuses, the placement space is 2" (30.8 mm). PT100 requires 1" (25.4 mm).
